The project in a nutshell
In order to make statements that are as reliable as possible, we use various methods in our project and draw on different data sources. The core of the project is a survey conducted at two points in time among around 9,000 people living in Switzerland. By surveying the same people twice, it is possible to determine detailed changes, for example in the amount of contact in the neighborhood, and to relate these to various phenomena, such as perceived problems in the neighborhood.
These survey data are supplemented by other, existing data (such as from the structural survey), which allow us to estimate regional differences. In addition, neighborhood online networks will be systematically captured for the first time, which will allow us, for example, to estimate the assistance and interaction organized via these networks.
The results of the project will be published on this website and they will be incorporated into an existing interactive online application that allows users to explore the influences of spatial structures and networks on individual educational, labor market and participation opportunities on their own.
During the study as well as after its completion, we would like to encourage all participants to share their questions and comments about the project as well as on the topic in general with us (our full contact details can be found here).
